What are your qualifications? Why should I choose you?
I have a history of excellent grammar and writing skills. Throughout high school, I received various Language Arts awards, as well as high grades in Advanced Placement Language & Composition classes and exams. I also have a 3.8 GPA at a nationally acclaimed university. I’m a Middle School Education major, and my specialties are Language Arts and Social Studies. In addition, I’m a writer myself so I understand the writer’s perspective, needs, and jargon. I also speak, read, and write in Spanish in case you’re manuscript contains Spanish.
Why do you define 250 words as a page?
Many people use 250 words to define a page. I prefer it to simply looking at the number of pages in a given manuscript. I believe it is the fairest method of defining a page. It benefits you if your manuscript has a lot of dialogue or small paragraphs. It also benefits me if you wrote your entire novel as one huge paragraph.
What genres do you accept?
I can do thrillers, fantasy, science fiction, contemporary, romance, Ya, but Im open to other genres. I’m pretty flexible when it comes to genre, but I’ll let you know if I don’t feel comfortable with a particular one.
What’s your turnaround time?
It depends on the number of manuscripts I have in my queue. If I’m not working with a client at the moment, I generally take 4-8 weeks with copyedits and 2-4 weeks with proofreading. However, I also have to take the length of your manuscript into account as well as how much work I think it will take. I’ll give you a more specific timeline when I see your manuscript.
Does the copyedit include a round of proofreading?
Do you offer sample edits?
I’d be happy to do a sample edit for you. I can do 10 pages for free so you can decide if we’re a good fit.
What manual do you use?
You did your homework! So did I. I use the Chicago Manual of Style, 16th edition.
